I was crushed and torn to pieces
When she pulled my world apart.
I couldn't catch my breath, I'd lost my way,
Had a gaping broken heart.

Then I was drowning in a stormy sea
Of loneliness and pain.
And I was third time under when I saw a light,
Approaching through the rain.

An Angel came to me.
And took me by the hand,
Pulled me from the sea,
And pointed me to land.

She wiped my tears away,
Shared a happy smile,
Helped me find my way,
And walked with me awhile.

An Angel came to me
An Angel came to me
An Angel came to me.

I can't remember what pushed me over
The rail into the sea,
But with my Angel guiding I could see
With perfect clarity.

The girl was never mine, kicked me far away,
Ripped out my beating heart.
She didn't care what she had done to me,
How can I trust again?

-----
An Angel came to me,
And took me by the hand,
Pulled me from the sea,
And pointed me to land.

She wiped my tears away,
Shared a happy smile,
Helped me find my way,
And walked with me awhile.

An Angel came to me
An Angel came to me
An Angel came to me.

A whole new world awaits me now,
My confidence returned.
My angel put me on my feet and
I can carry on.

And while I can't repay my debt to her,
Does she even know...
How she changed my world in so many ways
Brought joy to everything?

-----
An Angel came to me,
And took me by the hand,
Pulled me from the sea,
And pointed me to land.

She wiped my tears away,
Shared a happy smile,
Helped me find my way,
And walked with me awhile.

An Angel came to me,
(Angel came to)
And took me by the hand,
(Took me by the)
Pulled me from the sea,
(Pulled me from the sea)
And pointed me to land.

She wiped my tears away,
(Wiped my tears a..)
Shared a happy smile,
(Shared a happy)
Helped me find my way,
(Helped me find my way)
And walked with me awhile.

An Angel came to me
An Angel came to me
An Angel came to me.

Recording began March 23, 2014.
Dailies have been posted here, well, Often.

The song was left in mid April and picked up again in November 2014, where two days of resequencing, changing the speed, and completely rerecording all 12 vocal tracks made it significantly tighter and better than it was. Trivia: this vocal session was all first take. Every vocal segment (there are over 20) was recorded first try, making this one of the quickest vocal sessions I've ever done. Yes, there are some imperfections. Music is often about imperfection.

This is a song of rescue, of someone being there at the right place, at the right time, someone who kept me from drowning in a sea of despair.

Written, performed, produced by Geoff Allan. March and November 2014. From an idea that has been bouncing around in my head for almost 5 years.

Recorded using my new Lakeside studio, using Sonar X3, Komplete, a random Strat, still using the SM58 vocal mic, and studio quality audio card and monitors. 64-bit all the way.
